Abstract

This interview is an oral history conducted by Linfield College archivist Rich Schmidt with Mark Vlossak of St. Innocent Winery. The interview took place at St. Innocent Winery in Jefferson, Oregon on May 30, 2019.

Mark Vlossak is the owner of St. Innocent Winery, founded in 1988 and named in honor of his father. Vlossak specializes in sparkling wines made from pinot noir and chardonnay grapes. In this interview, Vlossak shares how he got into wine after being introduced to it by his father, as well as how he found himself in the Oregon wine industry. He then talks about his new winemaking facility/tasting room/vineyard located in Salem, and he discusses how his daughter has also found a passion for the industry. The interview conludes with Vlossak explaining the benefits of having different relationships with different growers and places, his plans for the future, and the changes he has witnessed during his time in Oregon.
