Abstract
This interview is an oral history conducted by Linfield College archivist Rich Schmidt with Rollin Soles and Corby Stonebraker-Soles of ROCO Winery. The interview took place at ROCO Winery in Newberg, Oregon on August 8, 2018.
Rollin Soles and Corby Stonebraker-Soles are co-owners of ROCO Winery, where Rollin also serves as winemaker and Corby is the business manager. In this interview, Soles talks about the various places he worked and how he traveled around the world working in the wine industry, eventually settling down permanently in the Willamette Valley. The couple explains their decision to start ROCO and the reasons why their vineyard is so unique, as well as why they chose to make sparkling wine, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Soles and Stonebraker-Soles also discuss their winemaking and marketing philosophies, the future of ROCO, and the future of the Oregon wine industry.
