Abstract
This interview is an oral history conducted by Linfield College archivist Rich Schmidt with Thomas Savre of Lingua Franca Wines. The interview took place at Lingua Franca in Salem, Oregon on August 9, 2019.
Thomas Savre is winemaker at Lingua Franca. In this interview, Savre talks about how he got into wine from a very young age. He explains how he is connected to Burgundy culturally, his education in learning wine, and his decision to leave France and go to the United States. Savre discusses his initial impressions of the Oregon wine industry, his goal as a winemaker, and how he ended up at Lingua Franca. Towards the end of the interview, Savre describes his winemaking philosophy, his goals for the future, and he offers advice for individuals looking to pursue their goals.
