Abstract

Tom Branigar was born in Salem, Oregon and grew up in the nearby town of Monmouth in Polk County. Branigar attended Linfield College from 1970-1974, majoring in mathematics with a minor in history. After Linfield, he continued on to Western Washington University for graduate school, where he studied archives and records management. He credits Linfield for his liberal arts education, giving him the opportunity to explore a variety of subjects and find his true passion in history. After years as an archivist, Branigar is now retired and spends much time volunteering at the Polk County Historical Society, helping further preserve and organize historical documents.

In this interview, Branigar discusses his time at Linfield College, including in-depth information about courses, as well as relationships with students and faculty. Branigar also shares details about his life after Linfield, discussing his work life and many accomplishments.
