Arts and Humanities in Action
Arts and Humanities in Action, or AHA!, was originally envisioned as a three-year program to establish an interdisciplinary program of activities to increase the number of students actively engaged in arts and humanities learning activities while at Linfield University and to connect the values learned and skills developed from these activities to their future careers. Thus, AHA! fosters arts and humanities learning activities, leading to career development for arts and humanities majors. The program aims to meet an institutional need to attract students to arts and humanities majors, minors, courses, and activities, and in particular to attract students from underrepresented populations who are more interested in Linfield’s professional programs. Linfield faculty and staff coordinate four program areas: a pre-orientation, learning communities, a January Term career development course, and summer internships. The first phase of the program is AHA! Pre-Orientation Immersion Lab. It is a week-long pre-orientation experience exploring inquiry through interdisciplinary arts and humanities activities for first-year and transfer students.
