Description
This collection of personal essays aims to give voice to the invisible identity: asexuality. From the paralyzing mixture of panic and relief that characterizes that first moment of realization, to the sleepless nights spent pondering the idea of coming out—the experience of the asexual person is similar to that of others within the LGBTQ+ community, yet so very different at the same time. In these essays, I explore the uniqueness of my own experience with asexuality. I bring Pedro the pineapple as my date to senior prom; I celebrate my connection to the amoeba; I try to make sense of my fascination with a handsome Spanish stranger. Asexual people aren’t broken—we just aren’t hungry.
