Description
The tensile bond strengths of bonded concrete overlays are tested using the in-situ pull-off method described in ASTM C 1583 with the goal of determining whether adding latex to the overlay increases bond strength. Test specimens are made of Portland cement concrete and consist of cores drilled into an overlay, which is cast on a high-strength substrate. The cores are drilled perpendicular to the surface through the overlay into the substrate, leaving the base attached. A tensile loading device applies a direct tensile load to each specimen and the load is increased until failure.
