Description
The introduction of the DREAM Act has empowered many undocumented students to speak out about their experiences and become activists. The DREAM Act, or Development Relief and Education of Alien Minors Act, is a bipartisan bill, introduced to Congress in 2001, which would allow certain undocumented students to continue their education and gain a path towards citizenship. One avenue by which undocumented students have been able to voice their support for the DREAM Act has been websites like DREAM Activist. This website is a youth-led site that works as a forum for students to post their narratives. This study will analyze three of the posted narratives and measure their effectiveness based on the method of narrative criticism. This investigation will focus on the themes of the stories, their incorporation of fidelity and coherency, and their ability to relate the struggles of undocumented students and the importance of supporting the DREAM Act.
