Description

The tasting area, part of the wine cellar at Illahe Vineyards in Dallas, Oregon, is photographed during an oral history interview with Lowell Ford on December 11, 2017. Ford was interviewed by Linfield College archivist Rich Schmidt.

Lowell Ford is the owner of Illahe Vineyards, whose approach to winemaking is characterized by minimal intervention and historical techniques. The LIVE-certified, Salmon Safe vineyard is on an 80-acre, south-facing slope, first planted in 2001 with predominantly Pinot Noir. The solar-powered winery is also gravity-flow, utilizing the natural slope of the site.
