Abstract

This interview with Manuel "Luis" Hernández of Sokol Blosser Winery was conducted by Jeff Peterson, Director of the Linfield Center for the Northwest. The interview took place at Sokol Blosser Winery in Dayton, Oregon in June 2013.

Luis Hernández is vineyard manager at Sokol Blosser Winery. In this interview, Hernández talks about his work as a tractor driver, maintenance man, and vineyard manager for Sokol Blosser Winery. He discusses how he came to Oregon by way of California, starting his own business (Hernández Vineyard Services), the ¡Salud! program, and the changes he has seen at Sokol Blosser and in the industry over the years. Hernández was interviewed as part of the Beyond the Vines: Latinos in the Oregon wine industry project, an exhibit created by Linfield College students Julian Adoff and Lydia Heins as part of the Keck Summer Collaborative Research Program under the auspices of the Linfield Center for the Northwest.
