Abstract
This interview is an oral history conducted by Linfield College archivist Rich Schmidt with Mark Chien, program coordinator at the Oregon Wine Research Institute at Oregon State University in Corvallis. The interview took place at the Jereld R. Nicholson Library at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon on January 17, 2019.
In this interview, Chien discusses how he got into the wine industry, getting an education at the University of California, Davis, and learning about viticulture. He talks about how he ended up in Oregon and his initial impressions of the industry, as well as his work with Oregon State University. Chien also explains his role at the Oregon Wine Research Institute and discusses its future, as well as the future of the Oregon wine industry.
