Description
This is a portrait of Andrew Spencer, the beloved porter at Good Samaritan Hospital for 40 years. He arrived at the hospital in 1880 with cataracts in both eyes and had his sight restored by Dr. Holt C. Wilson. After his recovery, he stayed on at the hospital as an employee. Andrew Spencer died of angina in 1919.
