Abstract
Gerry and Jackie Painter met at Linfield College in 1950 when Jackie was a first-year student and Gerry was a recent graduate. Gerry Painter of Twin Falls, Idaho, one of approximately twenty-five Linfield alumni in his family, was practically destined for Linfield. Jackie Painter came from Yakima, Washington and took an interest in Linfield from visiting performances and having a friend who attended the college. In this interview, the couple fondly reflects on their budding relationship and many miles of hitchhiking. The Painters discuss their experiences at Linfield, going into specifics on relationships with peers, professors, and former Linfield presidents. The Painters offer an interesting perspective on the college, telling of times when even dancing was not allowed.
