Abstract
Professor Dave Hansen and Debbie Harmon Ferry are a father/daughter duo who collectively have spent 70 years (at the date of the interview) working at Linfield College. Hansen began his time at Linfield as an Economics professor, became Dean of Students, and is now a Professor Emeritus. Ferry has been at Linfield's McMinnville campus since the age of one and grew up on campus. After spending some time away, Ferry returned to Linfield knowing it was the right place for her for school and, later, for her career. Ferry began as an Admissions counselor and is currently the Director of Alumni Relations.
This interview takes place in the Jereld R. Nicholson Library's Austin Reading Room. Topics covered include the family dynamic of having your father/daughter work at Linfield, how the culture on campus has changed, (especially technological improvements), what the unique relationship is like between McMinnville and Linfield, and a larger perspective on how Linfield and higher education are viewed today.
