Abstract
The outcomes of my 2017-18 AY sabbatical supported my professional research examining the role of arts and music organizations in shaping the town’s flood recovery efforts, as well as the ongoing struggle for affordable housing vital for relocating displaced local artists and musicians. This research was important to me professionally because Lyons was a major field site for my dissertation research on bluegrass music and culture, and it intersects with my current research on post-disaster recovery. This sabbatical allowed me to integrate both of these areas of research into a timely and dynamic project which has resulted in several professional presentations and a forthcoming book publication with Routledge.
