Abstract
As a result of my sabbatical work, I developed three manuscripts from previous conference presentations.
- Children as Outliers: School Bullying in an Audit Culture: I submitted this article to an expert in the field of autoethnography, Dr. Christopher N. Poulos of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He provided detailed feedback and suggestions of journals to which I should submit the article. I also presented it at the Twelfth International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry (Champaign-Urbana, IL) in May of 2016.
- Being a “Good” Schoolgirl: Gendered Intersections of Bullying and Abuse: I submitted this article to Hypatia, as planned. I received an invitation to revise and resubmit.
- A Common Academic Journey—Through Autoethnography and Fan Fiction: This article is in addition to the two manuscripts I said I would complete during my sabbatical. I submitted it to the International Review of Qualitative Research. I received a rejection due to the type of article. The journal provided suggestions of other places to submit. I also presented it at the Twelfth International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry (Champaign-Urbana, IL) in May of 2016. Finally, I sent the article to an expert in the field of autoethnography, Dr. Ronald J. Pelias, Professor Emeritus of Southern Illinois University, who provided encouragement and feedback, as well as suggestions of journals for submission.
