Abstract
This investigation examined the current research on methodologies and pedagogies for teaching mathematics in the online environment. Particular attention was paid to the resources utilized for effective online instruction in mathematics. Based on this research, several mathematics courses will be developed for Online and Continuing Education at Linfield College. These courses may include, but not be limited to, courses currently being taught by adjunct faculty. The course development will strive to incorporate pedagogical approaches supported by research in teaching mathematics online as well as innovative technologies that enhance presentation of content and have demonstrated increased student achievement when utilized.
