Biology Department

The biology major's course of study begins with a year-long, team-taught course in the Principles of Biology, followed by a series of four courses: Genetics, Principles of Ecology, Molecular Cell Biology, and Evolution. Depending upon the students’ interests, electives may be chosen from a variety of interesting courses. The major offers frequent opportunities to study in the field in such areas as Hawaii and Costa Rica.

Our location in the Willamette Valley is especially ideal for access to field study such as the South Slough Estuarine Sanctuary and the Hatfield Marine Science Center along the Oregon coast, the Hancock Field Station adjacent to the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, and the Malheur Field Station in Oregon's High Desert Country.
