Description
This research discusses the methods to produce a model that can use color to optically determine broad range thicknesses of boron nitride flakes. Quick identification by color vastly outperforms the speed of the AFM scans that are typically used to measure thickness of boron nitride, with the limitation of broader range estimates of step height. Through the interpretation of RGB color resulting from differences in optical contrast between BN and the SiO2 substrate on which the flakes are resting, relationships are identified to predict thickness of BN present.
