Description

It is said that we measure what we value (Porter, 2018). While using the same teacher evaluation for the last 2 decades, we have been measuring the success of teachers and student teachers by a set of values that does not center diversity or culture (Danielson, 1996). Current pedagogy, a complex political environment, mixed with a goal of increasing the diversity of teachers inspires us to take a step back and examine what we do and do not value in teaching, and develop a process for adopting a new evaluating framework that centers culturally responsive teaching practices (Salazar, 2019).
