Description
This study seeks to understand the implications on home values due to proximity to light rail transportation. My research utilizes 150 single-family home sales occurring during the month of September 2020 in Tempe, AZ. The sale prices and home characteristics were collected from Zillow.com. Data for the distance between the home and light rail line were collected using the distance between the home's address and the nearest light rail station. The results of this study found a decrease in the value of homes that are located within 3 miles of light rail transportation.
