Description
Actors from Linfield College Theatre’s production of The Women of Lockerbie by Deborah Brevoort will present the opening Prologue and First Choral Dialogue from the play. Following the scenes, the actors, director, and playwright will participate in a brief discussion with the audience about themes featured in the play. Using the convention of a Chorus within a contemporary treatment of a Greek tragedy structure, the play explores how communities and individuals find their way through grief to healing.
These two scenes illustrate the collaborative scholarly and creative ventures theatre students, faculty, and professionals engage in regularly. Ms. Brevoort’s participation has been made possible by a Playwright Residency supported by the Lacroute Arts Series at Linfield College and the Department of Theatre and Communication Arts.
Professor Janet Gupton directed the play. The design staff included Professor Tyrone Marshall, scenic designer and senior Rachel Kiefer, lighting designer. Laurel Peterson (’07), Linfield’s costume designer, created the costume designs, assisted by junior Rosalie Olson. Rob Vaughn (’97), Linfield’s technical director and sound designer, created the sound design. Junior Megan Moelhman served as the stage manager. The full cast included students Alyssa Lawrence, Joella Cordell, Robert (Murphy) Jackson, Claire Hamada, Sara Vass, Naomi Boydston, Alyxandra Jones-Sriboonlert, Jennifer Furrow, Gabrielle Esparza, and Zach Brehmeyer.
