Description
This project reflects the different reactions students in MLSP 290 (Spanish for Heritage Speakers) had towards the novel they were assigned to read, Beyond a Hundred Mountains by Reyna Grande. They were asked to create a final project incorporating in some fashion the major themes and the way they related them to their unique life stories. Some students chose to exemplify this through drawings. One student did a cross stitch illustration, while others wrote poems. These projects added rich perspectives to the discussions we had been having throughout the semester and helped us all create a sense of a shared community and sympathy towards struggles youth in adverse circumstances undergo.
