Description
The purpose of this paper is to indentify economic factors affecting the export of softwood logs from the United States to China, South Korea, and Japan. This study specifies U.S. softwood log exports to each country as a function of their GDP per capita, their currency's value relative to the U.S. dollar, new U.S. housing starts, and oil prices. We determined that oil prices and the exchange rate exert a significant impact on exports to most countries.
