Abstract

This interview is an oral history conducted by Linfield College archivist Rich Schmidt with Geoffrey and Lane Crowther of Toluca Lane. The interview took place at Toluca Lane in Amity, Oregon on July 25, 2018.

Geoffrey and Lane Crowther are the owners of Toluca Lane, a family-owned, small, boutique grape-growing and wine operation in Yamhill County, Oregon that produces about 300 cases of wine per year. In this interview, the Crowthers discuss how they both came into the wine industry from their prior careers and how they found their way when it came to growing grapes, including the choice not to use rootstock for their vines. They also explain how they have kept up with trends in the industry, and they comment on the bright future they see not only for Toluca Lane but also for the entire wine industry in Oregon.
