Abstract

In this lecture, Dorothy Ross discusses the ethical dimensions of Lincoln’s politics of emancipation and nationalism. She explains how universalist ethical principles informed Lincoln’s nationalism and examines how the intertwining of human rights and allegiance to the nation were essential to Lincoln’s political thought.
