Abstract
Dr. Jonathan Haidt presents the keynote address at the opening convocation of the 154th academic year at Linfield College. In his lecture, Haidt discusses how things learned in the classroom can enrich the lessons life teaches you elsewhere, and he explains how knowing a little bit of psychology can enable students to get the most out of their time at Linfield. Haidt also draws connections to the book read by all incoming first-year students, François Lelord's Hector and the Search for Happiness.
