Description
A baseball player swings at a pitch at Roy Helser Field at Linfield College.
Helser, class of 1936, was a professional pitcher from 1937 to 1952; he played for the Portland (Oregon) Beavers from 1942 to 1952. An athletic director and basketball coach at Linfield, Helser was also the head baseball coach for 21 seasons. His 1966 NAIA championship team was Linfield's first national championship in any sport. The field was formally dedicated in his honor in 1973.
