Artist's Statement
This piece was a collaboration of four people. The original Eiffel Tower inspired us to build a large structure out of toothpicks. Being one of the tallest structures in the world, we wanted to represent that by making our structure over four feet tall. It represents a strong message of the attacks on Paris in 2015. The peace sign in the middle of the tower presents a great tribute to these recent events. The Eiffel Tower is a metaphor representing the idea of standing strong. This global, cultural icon can influence different emotions and allows for multiple interpretations.
