2017 Student Thesis Exhibition
JAK the Trifecta: A Story of Coalesce, the 2017 Student Thesis exhibition, was presented by the Linfield Gallery and the Department of Art and Visual Culture at Linfield College from May 10-28, 2017. Three students displayed their work, which stems from a year-long integrative seminar in which majors produce a cohesive body of work, including related critical papers and artist statements, and obtain gallery practice by assisting the director.
About the Exhibition
Coalesce (Koh-uh-les), verb. (1) To unite, grow or come together to form one mass or whole.
A trinity of women who come from diverse backgrounds, independent aesthetics, and a variety of mediums have formed a profound bond that enables them to be inspired within each other's works. The work of Alex Andreotti, Jasmine Fojas, and Kytana Winn may look different in appearance but are all rooted from growth and transformation through the trials and tribulations of what it means to be an artist. Throughout the process of finding oneself, we found friendship through the interlaces of the copper, the coils of the vessel, and the cuts of the paper.
In the end, our work and our friendship made it.
