2016 Student Thesis Exhibition

2016 Student Thesis Exhibition

lam.prey, the 2016 Student Thesis exhibition, was presented by the Linfield Gallery and the Department of Art and Visual Culture at Linfield College from May 11-29, 2016. Six students displayed their work, which stems from a year-long integrative seminar in which majors produce a cohesive body of work, including related critical papers and artist statements, and obtain gallery practice by assisting the director.

Taken together, lam.prey can be read as a snapshot, preserving a specific moment in time, like a group portrait from a multi-day family reunion. Each of these artists came to Linfield from a different background, and each of them will go on to different futures, but for four years these students shared an environment that was partially of their own making.

As an exhibition, lam.prey shows the evidence of how these artists' work and process influenced one another. But even more it shows how four years of classes, readings, and activities have been processed differently, leading to radically disparate approaches to artistic inquiry.
