Abstract
Douglas County Museum curator George Abdill chronicles the history of grape growing in the region, including the first families: Applegate, Von Passl, and Doerner. Abdill speculates there is still missing information about the history of Oregon wine, and he posits that Southern Oregon could be a substantial contributor to the Oregon wine industry. The article is accompanied by a photograph that includes members of the Von Passl and Doerner families.
