Abstract

Dr. Jonathan Haidt presents the keynote address at the opening convocation of the 154^th academic year at Linfield College. In his lecture, Haidt discusses how things learned in the classroom can enrich the lessons life teaches you elsewhere, and he explains how knowing a little bit of psychology can enable students to get the most out of their time at Linfield. Haidt also draws connections to the book read by all incoming first-year students, François Lelord's Hector and the Search for Happiness.
