Abstract

This Faculty Development Grant was written to enable me to better explore the international art scene, to pursue ongoing and new opportunities with European gallery contacts, and to support the creation of a new body of paintings. It represents a sense of optimism and hope that my work might be presented at a more international level, which is a difficult feat from my role as a small college professor from Oregon. While I have had successes in Latin America with shows and murals in Mexico and Costa Rica, as well as a smattering in other parts of the world, I haven't had much success in Europe, until now. Through this work I hope to present my students with a sense of the possible, the practical and the operational aspects of developing careers as studio artists.
