Artist's Statement

Trashing Our Future embodies the devastating reality of a salmon. In the Pacific Ocean, between 12,000 and 24,000 tons of plastic get swallowed by fish each year. The purpose of this art piece is to illustrate the toxic conditions these animals endure. But it is also to provoke thoughts and raise awareness of the imprint humans place on the environment. Although Trashing Our Future has a somber tone, we hope to inspire critical thinking and education that could lend to solutions.
