The Role of Light in Creating Space: A Collection of Poems

Location

Jereld R. Nicholson Library: Austin Reading Room

Subject Area

English: Creative Writing

Description

I have been outlining this project in my head now for around a year. I decided I wanted to write a collection of poems for my thesis when, well, whenever I sat down to write, poems sputtered out. The next aim was to understand the work more fully and thus, create a collection of coherence. I asked myself questions as, what does all of this actually mean? and how can this poem work with/against this other one? Beyond my constant doubts and reaffirmations, I began to see a project take form. I feel it is paramount to thank the creative writing department for their indisputable influence on these poems—I am quite certain I would not have the writing voice I have today without them. The Role of Light in Creating Space is my first collection of poems, truly, my first collection of any literary endeavor, and I am thrilled to share a piece of it with you.
