Description
Polyoxometalates (POMs), or soluble metal-oxide clusters, are of great interest due to their unique physical properties, such as their tunable redox behavior, high electron densities, and distinct spectroscopic states. POMs have been investigated for applications in catalysis, photochromism, magnetism, as well as in the medical field. An organic-inorganic hybrid system can take advantage of the magnetic, optical, and electrochemical properties of POMs.
The focus of this study was four bis-alkyl organic-inorganic hybrid POMs, 1 {[C4H9]4N}6{[C8H17Si]2OP2W17O61}, 2 {[C4H9]4N}6{[C12H25Si]2OP2W17O61}, 3 {[C4H9]4N}6{[C18H37Si]2OP2W17O61}, and 4 {[C4H9]4N}6{[C18H37Si]2OP2W17O61}, where compounds 3 and 4 were synthesized by different techniques.
