Abstract

Rusty Gaffney tells Richard Sommer's story as a pioneer to the Oregon wine industry in this article from his "Prince of Pinot" blog, volume 8, issue 39. Gaffney tells of Sommer's life and experiences, supplemented by a unique side of the story from Sommer's close friend and employee of Hillcrest Vineyards, Phil Gale. Gale provides detailed historical information on Sommer and his establishment in the Oregon wine industry.
